Rosacea Treatment & Advice
People with rosacea
have very sensitive skin. If you have rosacea, you need to be very choosy about
what you apply to your facial skin. Aim to use products that calm the redness of
your rosacea prone skin. It's also critical that you avoid anything that irritates
your sensitive skin because it will cause your rosacea to flare up.
The most important points to consider in selecting skin care products that are
calming to rosacea are that:
- You need to avoid products that irritate or overly dry their skin. Choose
products that calm inflammation and sooth redness such as the green tea in
Replenix CF Green Tea Cream.
I also find that the pyrithione zinc cleansers in non drying bases such as
Noble Zinc Soap
(which contains soothing calendula, oat meal and emu oil) may also calm rosacea.
- Don't use irrigating cleansers. Use only gentle non-foaming facial cleansers
such as Toleraine Cleanser
and Noble Zinc Soap.
These are much better tolerated than the usual foaming cleansers. You could also
use one of the many natural glycerin soaps available at natural food stores and
specialty boutiques.
- Moisturizing with only nonirritating moisturizers such as
Glycolix Elite Facial Cream
and Replenix CF Cream.
These products are helpful to heal and restore balance to inflamed skin. I discuss
moisturizer in my section on dry skin care.
I have found that all of these products that I mentioned above are compatible
with prescription products that I prescribe for my rosacea patients.
